Create Visual Funnels from Traces
to Track Step-by-Step Completion
The only distributed tracing tool that tracks multi-step request flows. See where
traces succeed, where they fail, and where they drop off.
Define multi-step sequences
Build funnels with unlimited steps. Each step filters traces by service name, operation, HTTP status code, or any custom attribute from your instrumentation. Use operators like CONTAINS, REGEX, IN, or EXISTS.
Save funnel definitions to reuse across different time ranges or share with your team.

See drop-offs between steps
Each funnel step shows how many traces reached it and what percentage converted from the previous step. View aggregate metrics like average rate, average duration, error count and p99 latency for each transition. Visualize where traces drop off in your sequence and compare performance between different steps to identify bottlenecks.

Identify problem traces
See the top 5 slowest traces for each step transition and view all traces with errors separately. Each trace shows its transition duration, making it easy to spot outliers. Click any trace ID to jump to the full trace visualization for detailed debugging.
Analyze request flows across multiple trace ids
A single trace shows one request. Trace funnels aggregate thousands of traces with the same request flow to reveal system-wide issues that individual trace inspection misses.

Step Transition Analysis
Compare performance between different step transitions. See if Step 1→2 takes 100ms while Step 2→3 takes 1ms across all matching traces.
Error Clustering
View which step transitions generate how many errors and see the trace IDs causing failures at each transition point..
Conversion Tracking
See what percentage of traces complete each step. A 32% drop between steps reveals systematic problems, not isolated incidents.

I've studied more than 10 observability tools in the market. We eventually landed on SigNoz, which says a lot. Compared to Elastic Cloud, it's a breeze with SigNoz.

Getting started with SigNoz was incredibly easy. We were able to set up the OpenTelemetry collector quickly and start monitoring our systems almost immediately.

Recently, we configured alerts for pod restarts and were able to quickly identify and resolve the root cause before it escalated. Additionally, SigNoz's tracing capabilities helped us spot unwanted calls to third-party systems, allowing us to optimize our applications.

We have started saving almost six hours on a daily basis, which we can now invest in other tech debts and backlogs. The best thing about SigNoz is that it's open source. I can go into the source code and look at what's happening. That's a great confidence booster for long-term usage.

SigNoz is something we use daily. If I have ten tabs open, six of them are SigNoz. We used traces and it helped us take 30 seconds down to 3 seconds.
